DARK AND DISCREET TO BRACKENLAND
| Crossing my fingers was not enough. Today 14th July we had to make the very hard decision to put Dark to sleep. As I had mentioned he had been very unwell the last few days, gradually losing weight over a period of weeks as well as his appetite for food and the joy of life faded before us. On examination at the vet’s this morning his heart was so bad that they thought it unlikely he would live for more than 24 to 48 hours without having a massive heart attack. Dark was born to run, enjoy life – chew most of the plaster off our walls in the breakfast room, eat two of my mobile phones (including sim card) on the same day. He was the very first Deerhound that actually enjoyed being in the show ring and his results to date were promising – he had already qualified for Crufts 2009 within weeks of first being shown. Before becoming ill he was the perfect food thief – like his mother Wichita and was regularly ticked off for grabbing a tasty morsel of ours and running outside to eat it. Although you were only a baby (13 months) you made a very special place in our hearts, never to be forgotten. May you run in peace? Love Taryn, Mick and Tantra |
